Joseph E.
Sasek
September 19, 1932 – October 19, 2021
Joseph (Joe) Ed Sasek, 89, of Wilber, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on October 19, 2021, at the Wilber Care Center. He was born on September 19, 1932, to his parents Tillie and Robert Sasek on the family farm just outside of Wilber. Joe attended school and graduated from Wilber High school. On September 18, 1955, he was married to Virginia Lines and they made their home in Wilber. They had four children, Deb, Marvin, Randy and Donna. Joe served in the army from 1953-1955 during the Korean War. He earned the ranking of Master Sergeant. He worked as the Saline County Sheriff Deputy for five years. He also worked at the Co-Op in Wilber from the early seventies, to 1999 where he worked as a fuel truck delivery man. He was known for the large box of suckers that he would bring for the kids who were at the farm when he was delivering. Joe was a member of the Legion Post 101 for sixty-six years, as well as a member of the sportsman club, and gun club. Joe was an incredible person who loved life and definitely lived it to the fullest. Joe enjoyed bowling, ping pong, horseshoes, gardening, spending time with family and friends, watching high school athletics, and other school functions, supporting bird watching, being outside, playing cards and being the taste tester for all of Ginny's new recipes. In the later years of his life, he spent plenty of time out on the front porch waving at everyone who passed by, and people even knew to look to see if he was there so they could wave back. Both Joe and Ginny worked for Kuncl Funeral Home where they enjoyed meeting and socializing with people. He will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by his parents: Tillie and Robert, brother: Robert (Bob) Sasek, sister: Betty Kohout, daughter: Deborah Pallas, and son-in-law: Jerry Pallas. He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years Virginia Sasek, children, Marvin (Bev), Randy (Kim) and Donna (Jon) Pedersen all of Wilber, his sister Rose Zoubek, his grandchildren: Tiffany and spouse Brian, Adam and Erica Pallas, Eric and Nathalie Sasek, Cody Sasek, Riley Sasek, Mitchell and Alicia Sasek, Tasha Pedersen, and Kyle Pedersen. His great-grandchildren: Mason Sasek, Aspen Sasek, Miles Pallas, Vincent Pallas, and Remi Sasek. Services will be on Friday, October 22, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 – 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials are in care of the family for future designation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber.
