Kenneth M. Bors, 86, of Crete passed away February 22, 2018. He was born on July 23, 1931, to Albert and Helen Bors. The family made their home in Dorchester, Lincoln and Crete, NE. Ken graduated from Crete High School in 1949 and from the Lincoln School of Commerce in 1951. Ken then went to work at Fairmont Foods in Crete where he met Carol. Ken and Carol's first date was a road trip to York to attend a dance and hear a popular band. They were married on September 13, 1953 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Crete. Ken and Carol were the parents to two children—Steve born in 1957 and Kris born in 1960. They lived the majority of their marriage in their home on Jasmine Road in Crete. Ken and Carol were married for 62 years. Ken was the Administrator of Crete Municipal Hospital for 25 years (1967 to 1992). Prior to that he worked in accounting positions for Feed Service Corporation, the Nebraska National Guard and Fairmont Foods. Ken had a passion for golf and spent many happy hours at College Heights Country Club. He also enjoyed playing cards with friends, fishing, yard work and attending his grandchildren's school, dance and sporting events. Ken was a member and served in leadership positions in numerous community organizations, including Crete Chamber of Commerce, Crete Jaycees, Crete Sertoma Club, College Heights Country Club, Crete Area Health Care Foundation and the Saline County Mental Health Association. Ken also served as President of District V of the Nebraska Hospital Association. Survivors include son, Steve (Rhonda) Bors of Lincoln; grandchildren, Eric Bors of Lincoln, Kailyn Bors of Lincoln, Kiana Pagan of Newark, Calif.; brother, Wayne (Carol) West of Grand Island; nephews, Joe Pospisil, Nathan West and Matt West. Preceded in death by parents; daughter and son-in-law Kris Bors Pagan and Peter Pagan. Memorial service at 2:30 PM on Thursday, March 1, at Grace United Methodist Church, Crete. Rev. Dr. Wayne Reynolds will officiate. Memorials to Crete Area Medical Center Health Care Foundation or Wilber Care Center. Graveside service will be at 1:00 PM, on Thursday at Riverside Cemetery, Crete.
