Kenneth Edward Burianek, 71, of Edinburg TX (formerly of Crete, NE and Tucumcari, NM) went to be with our Lord surrounded by his family on February 16, 2016 at LifeCare Hospital, Edinburg, TX following a brief illness.

Ken was born on June 19, 1944 to Henry Burianek and Lillian (Wenninghof) Christie in Milford, NE. He was baptized Sept 10, 1944 at Sacred Heart Church in Crete, NE and Confirmed May 25, 1958 at St Mary's Church in Lincoln, NE. Ken joined the Navy in October 1961 and served until June 1965. He was stationed in Hawaii for part of that time. He always joked about the time it got cold in Hawaii and the natives looked like Eskimos when they had parkas on. It got all the way down to 75*. He married Mary Catherine Roberts on March 19, 1966 at St. Patrick's church in Havelock. They have 4 children.

Ken's favorite hobbies were shooting pool and playing Bingo. He also enjoyed a good Husker game, tinkering with cars, and of course, playing with his grandchildren.

Mr. Burianek is survived by; daughters Galynn Hermann and her husband Scott of Colorado Springs, CO, Gaynor Martinez and her husband Victor of Edinburg, TX; sons John Burianek and his wife Lisa of Fairbury, NE, and Jason Burianek of Wichita KS; former wife and mother of his children Mary Bassell; brother Joe Burianek, sisters Margo Moline, Judith Delimont, and Nancy Keating; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ken is preceeded by his parents, his special friend Judith Ann Kelley, sisters Kathleen Burianek and Patricia Brewer, and brother Gary Burianek.

Services: Saturday (2/20/16), 2:00 PM, Kuncl Funeral Home, Crete. Visitation: 1 hour prior to services. Interment at Riverside Cemetery in Crete, NE.
