Obituary

"Kenny" Kahle, 75, of Crete passed away February 16, 2024, in Crete.  He was born on November 26, 1948, to Harry and Wilma (Messman) Kahle.  He graduated from Dorchester High School in 1967.  On June 5, 1970, he was united in marriage to Diane Mundt.  To this union two children were born, Andrew and Lisa.  Kenny was employed at the Crete Mills for 43 years, from June 24, 1968, until he retired on February 28, 2011.  He was a proud member of the Grain and Confectionery Union and led his local as president for many years.  Kenny, Diane and family were devoted campers and fishermen.  Collecting toy tractors, especially John Deere, was a passion of his, for which he spent much time with family and friends, in his enjoyment of the hobby.  Kenny loved his yard work, gardening, and also canning much of his produce.  He was a talented wood worker, spending many hours in his shop creating treasures for his family and friends.  In retirement he enjoyed attending as many of his grandchildren's activities as possible and traveling with his wife.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Melvin and Lorraine Mundt, his sister, Sandra Whitmarsh and a nephew, Ted Karstens. He is survived by his wife, Diane, son, Andrew (Melissa) Kahle of Lincoln, daughter, Lisa (Shaun) Vogt, of Omaha, grandchildren, Matthew Vogt, Addison and Alexis Kahle, sister, Sharon (Curt) Karstens of Dallas, TX, brothers-in-law, Harold Whitmarsh of Lincoln, Paul (Darlene) Mundt of Lincoln, Mark (Barb) Mundt of Crete, uncles Dick (Loretta) Messman of Lincoln, Tom (Dorothy) Messman of Crete, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation will be held at Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete on Monday, February 19, 2024, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm.  Funeral services are scheduled on Tuesday, February 20, 10:30 am, at St. John Lutheran Church, Kramer, NE.  Burial will be in the church cemetery, following the service. Memorials are in care of St. John Lutheran Church, and the Crete Volunteer Fire Department.  Arrangements entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.
