LaVerne Mae Maneth passed away on February 18, 2024, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born on January 25, 1936, to William and Mary (Pekarek) Smisek near Martell, NE. LaVerne was raised in the Wilber area, graduating from Wilber High School in 1954.

LaVerne married Francis Maneth in Carson City, NV, on May 18, 1963. They lived in Nevada and Nebraska before moving to Sioux Falls in 1972. LaVerne worked at various insurance agencies in Sioux Falls, including Midland National Life. She also worked at Sears, JC Penneys and Midco Call Center. LaVerne enjoyed embroidery, sewing and listening to Czech music.

Laverne was preceded in death by parents, husband, sister, Darlene Reynolds, and brother, Kenneth Smisek. She is survived by her children Teresa Cole, Sioux Falls, SD; Brian Maneth, Sioux Falls, SD; Cheryl Thaler and husband Rick, Pickstown, SD and Harold Maneth of Concord, California.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 23, 2024, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilber, NE, with burial to follow at the Wilber Czech Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home.
