Leah Louisa Wahl was born in Western on September 24, 1914 to Samuel and Stella ( Matzke) Lange.
She was baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit on March 21, 1915 at the Evangelical Assembly of Western by the Rev. F. W. Schuelzky. Leah confessed her baptismal faith in the rite of Confirmation on March 10, 1939 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Western. Leah was joined together in holy matrimony to Orland Wahl on July 25, 1938, at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Bozeman, MT by the Rev. O. Misch. They adopted a son, Ronald. On February 14, 2017, at the age of 102 years, Leah fell asleep in Jesus at the Heritage Care Center in Fairbury. She is survived by her son, Ronald, of Western; brother-in-law Lowell Fey of Nebraska City; nieces Nancy Fey of Denver, CO and Carol Chatfield of Palo Alto, CA; nephews Tom Fey of Monroe, WI and David Fey of Denver, CO; former daughter-in-law Becky Wahl of Hebron; and step-grandson Adam Winsenburg of Mountain View, California. Leah was predeceased by her husband, Orland; sisters Arvilla Fey and Laurene Gillespie; brother-in-law Kenneth Wahl; and sister-in-law Dorothy Vorce. Services: Monday, February 20th, 10:30 am, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Daykin. Viewing 1 hour prior to services at church. Interment: Plainview Cemetery, Western, NE.
