Leonard L. Freeouf, age 98, of Wilber, Nebraska, passed away on October 28, 2025, at the Wilber Care Center. He was born on a farm right in the middle of Saline County on November 6, 1926, to Lumir and Agnes (Divoky) Freeouf. He went to Country School District #10 and graduated from Wilber high School in 1944. Leonard served in the Army from 1946 – 1947, after which, he learned to fly. On September 20, 1949, Leonard married Florence Pisar at the Wilber Methodist Church. They lived in Wilber where he worked in the Insurance and Real Estate Business. He also had an accounting business during his years. He took care of his own farms, setting aside some acres of ground on each farm specifically for wildlife. Leonard often recalled seeing Nebraska win their very first football championship. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards. In addition to all of this, Leonard had time to serve for many years on the Wilber Cemetery Board, the Wilber Fire Department, the Saline County Weed Board and the Wilber Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Wilber Methodist Church. He certainly saw and accomplished a lot in his nearly 99 years. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Richard, sister: Grace Wagner, and infant great grandson: Jonah Freeouf.  He is survived by his son and daughter in law: Bernard and Sue of York, grandchildren: Kimberly and Bret Walker and their children Gavin and Paige of Commerce City, Colorado, Jennifer and Mike Sheanon and their children Lilly and Alex of Taunton, Massachusetts, Brian and Jessamy Freeouf and their children Joseph and Abigail of Rapid City, South Dakota. Services will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber. The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed via https://evt.live/leonard-freeouf-service .
