Leonard A. Stehlik, Dorchester, passed away March 17, 2017. He was born on October 20, 1933 to Adolph and Emma (Kraus) Stehlik on the farm he later made his own.

Leonard and Jeanette "Jan" (Selk) Stehlik were married August 22,1954. Leonard was a 4-H leader and met his future wife when he took his members to 4-H camp where she was a counselor. They remained involved in 4-H as leaders and dedicated parents for many years. Leonard served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. His service included a stint in the Special Police.

After his military service, Leonard and Jan returned to the family farm where they raised corn, wheat, cattle, sheep, hogs, and a family of four sons and a daughter. He was an active member of the Saline County Farm Bureau. Leonard served as a substitute rural mail carrier for the Dorchester area and briefly served as a full-time carrier as well.

Leonard was baptized and confirmed in 1956 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Crete where he was a member until his death. He served as an Elder and a Trustee for Bethlehem and provided livestock for several area church's Living Nativity scenes for many years.

Leonard is survived by wife Jan; sons Dan -Curtis, Brent (Jan)-Lincoln, Eric - Dorchester, daughter Bonnie (Mark) Wagner - Petersburg; grandchildren Adam and Aaron (Bethany) Stehlik, Melissa Gash and Tyler Stehlik, and Eleanor and John Wagner; sisters Velma (Wayne) Hansen, and Rose Marie Heckman; many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Linden, and sister Darlene (Gene) Easley.

Services: Wednesday, 10:30 am, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Crete. Visitation: Tuesday, 5 – 8 pm, Kuncl Funeral Home, Crete. Family will greet friends from 6 – 8 pm. Memorials can be given to the Lambs of Christ Preschool or LLS (for cancer research).
