Leroy Frank Duchek, age 85, passed away peacefully at the Wilber Care Center December 5, 2017. He was born January 26, 1932 to Joseph and Albena (Divoky) Duchek in their Saline County Home. He was raised on the farmstead that would be his home his entire life. He attended a country school just north of his farm through the 8th grade. He started his life as a farmer at that point and continued to farm up to his last years.
Leroy met his greatest Love, Marjorie Remington, at Sunset Ballroom south of Lincoln in 1951. On February 24, 1952 they were united in marriage in Holbrook Nebraska. To this union three children were born, Randy, Bobby Joe, and Angie. The couple worked together every single day on the farm, raising their family, and running their butcher shop. From 1973 to 1998 many hours were spent in the "Meat House" butchering, cutting up meat, sharing stories, laughs, friendship, and fun with family, friends, and faithful customers. It was also in that meat house that Leroy taught many lessons to his grandchildren about hard work and his love for family.
Leroy is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Randy and Christine Duchek of Greeley CO and Bobby Joe and Pam Duchek of Dorchester; daughter Angie Pierce, Dorchester; Grandchildren Stacey and Josh VanBoening, Cortney and Jason Chapin, Jeffrey Pierce, and Carmen Duchek; Great Grandchildren Brady, Ben, and Landon VanBoening, Kobe and Kenzie Chapin, Tierra and Jayana Duchek; Sister Betty Uher; Special Friends Larry Roit of Milligan and Yogi and Marcie Bonertz, Swanton.
