Obituary

Lillian Cerveny, 98, of Moberly, went to the Lord Friday, March 22 at Moberly Nursing and Rehab in Moberly, Missouri. She was born Lillian Irene Skleba to James and Clara Pracheil Skleba on the family farm near Wilber Nebraska on Easter Sunday, April 4, 1920. She loved school and excelled in her studies, graduating from the 8th grade with honors. She married Lumir Cerveny on December 2, 1940 in Wilber Nebraska. They made their first home on a farm near Hallam Nebraska. After their daughter Karen was born, they moved to Omaha in 1945, where they remained until their final move to Moberly. Daughter Cheryl was born in Omaha. Lillian worked in photo finishing, printing color pictures for professional photographers. Her love for photography grew to other members of her family. After Lillian retired they moved to a small farm near Moberly where Lumir died later that year. A few years later, Lillian traveled on a mystery trip with OATS after which she started riding the OATS bus. Lillian never drove so she enjoyed her independence riding the bus. She became an OATS volunteer, serving first as Randolph County Chairperson and later as Treasurer for many years. She made many friends riding the OATS bus both locally and on longer trips. Her travels included many locations in the United States as well as three trips to Canada. She said she never regretted her move to Moberly. Lillian was an avid Nebraska Football Fan never missing a game. She expected family dinners to be postponed so she could watch the game. Family knew to not bother her or even call her during the game. Lillian kept up with what was going on in Omaha and back home in Wilber by taking the Omaha and Crete newspapers all these years. Lillian's second love after Cornhusker football was going out to eat. She could tell you every place she had ever been and what they served. Lillian was a member of Trinity United Methodist church. She really enjoyed the visitation of UMW ladies making sure that she didn't take a nap and miss them. She is survived by daughters, Karen (Gary) Hunt of Moberly, MO, Cheryl (David) Arnold of Ethelsville, AL; Grandsons Christopher Berney of Forrest City, AR; Norman (Lori) King of Minot SD; Scott (Kristi) King of Arnold MO; James Berney and finance Tonya Roddy of Holts Summit MO; Douglas (Vicki) Berney of Kansas City, KS.
