Obituary

Lois Lynn Zach (Uldrich) was born April 18, 1947, in Lincoln, Nebraska.  She passed away on September 24, 2024, at Bryan East Hospital. She was the daughter of Rudy Jr. and Lola (Smith) Uldrich. Lois was raised in Lincoln where she graduated from Lincoln High in 1965. Growing up, Lois enjoyed spending time in Tobias and Western Nebraska with her many cousins, aunts and uncles. Following high school, Lois attended beauty school in Lincoln. In 1966 Lois married Franklin A Zach. They made their home in Wilber, Nebraska, and had 3 children, Sharmin, Wendy, and Chad. Lois began working at the Wilber Care center in 1967 as one of their first employees.  During her 50-year career, she encompassed many positions, including: CNA, medication aide, scheduler, and retired as a restorative aide in 2017. Lois formed a lot of close friendships throughout her time working at the Wilber Care Center. When not working, Lois had many passions that often involved family gatherings, gardening, canning, and a special talent for cooking, everyone especially enjoyed all of her Christmas candies and treats including her famous cherry mash. During short get-aways, Lois especially enjoyed playing slot machines at casinos. However, dearest to Lois's heart was spending time with her family, loved ones, and friends.

Lois is survived by daughter Sharmin Ekstein (Ernie) of Tobias, daughter Wendy Ingwersen (Jess) of David City, son Chad Zach (Melanie) of Elk Point, South Dakota, grandchildren Kami Braden (Kirk) of Wilber, Kyra Jiskra of Omaha, Evie Ingwersen (Kyle Poort) of Malvern, Iowa, Allie Ingwersen of Wilber, Jake Ingwersen of Lincoln, Aiden and Ryker Zach of Elk Point, South Dakota, great grandchildren Raeleigh Braden of Wilber, Jace and Everett Poort of Malvern Iowa, Gracie Johnson of Wilber, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and other loved ones.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents, Rudy and Lola Uldrich, husband Franklin Zach, in laws Augusta and Charles Zach, Sr., grandson Noah Zach, as well as many brothers and sister in laws, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber.  Visitation will be on Friday from 5 - 8 PM at the funeral home.  Memorials are in care of the family for future designation. Arrangements entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber.
