Loretta (Matthews) Spinar, 90, Crete, passed away on October 16, 2016. Loretta was born on February 13, 1926 in Dorchester, Nebraska to Ralph "Bollie" and Amelia (Myers) Matthews. After graduating from Dorchester High School in 1943 she taught in rural schools for three years. On April 21, 1946 she was united in marriage to Robert L. Spinar of Crete, and to this union three children were born, Allen, Dixie and Thomas. Loretta followed her husband to the army base in Fort Lewis, Washington, after completing the school year in 1946. There, she made their first home in Olympia, Washington, where she worked as a secretary at the State Capitol until her husband's discharge in 1947. They then returned to the family farm, where they farmed for the next 42 years, until retiring in 1989 to their residence in Crete.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; son, Allen and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Spinar; sister, Lois Adams and brother-in-law, Arthur Adams, sister Shirley Vance and brothers-in-law, Allen Wasenius, Jim Strope, and Henry Mach.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Spinar, her daughter and son-in-law, Dixie Goss and Dan Cryer, sisters Clara Wasenius and E. Jean Strope, brother-in-law Fred Vance, sister- in-law Melva Mach, and nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 21st at Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete, NE. Rev. Roger Wolfe will officiate the service. Please send memorials in lieu of flowers to the Crete Rescue Squad. Condolences may be left online at kunclfh.com.
