Lorraine M
Roelfs
August 30, 1939 – January 16, 2024
Lorraine May Roelfs, 84, of Nebraska City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, surrounded by members of her family at the Ambassador Health Center.
Lorraine was born on August 30, 1939 to Alfred and Olga Brozovsky in Beatrice, and she immediately brought joy and laughter into the world. Lorraine went on to graduate from Swanton High School. She met her eventual husband, Otto Roelfs Jr. in high school and they were married in 1963.
Lorraine was a fiercely dedicated Mother to her two children, Debra and Kiley. She was their biggest fan and she always put family first above all else, a value she instilled in all of those around her. She was widely known for being the "Drive-thru Lady" at Runza in Crete and Nebraska City along with her infectious, loving hugs and her love of the holidays, especially Christmas. All anyone had to do was be within reasonable distance of her residence and they would know what time of year it was!! She carried the Christmas Spirit with her all year round and was a very willing participant in spreading it as much as she could. As her children became parents, she became the same Grandmother to her grandchildren as she was a Mother to her own children. They adored her! The hole left by her absence will be impossible to fill.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Olga Brozovsky, and twin sister Loretta Menke. She is survived by her husband Otto, Brother Allen Brozovsky and his wife Sharon, daughter Debra Fox and her husband Alan, her son Kiley Roelfs and his wife Melinda. Her Grandchildren: Tristin Hammond and her husband Noah, Trey Fox and his wife Blair, Trinity Dia and her husband Fadi and Drew and Grant Roelfs. She had 6 Great Grandchildren with two more on the way; McKenzie, Lily, Noah and Brookelyn Hammond, Myles Fox and Ella Dia as well as many other nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Lorraine's name to Hearts United for Animals in Auburn, Nebraska. Services will be held at the Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber, Nebraska on Friday, January 19th at 1pm.
