Lumir Vacek passed away peacefully in the presence of his
family on March 13th, 2018 at South Lake Village Alzheimers
Care Unit in Lincoln. Lumir, formally of Wilber was born on
November 25th, 1923 to John Jr. and Bessie (Homolka) Vacek.
Lumir had a passion for farming and after the sudden death
of his father, Lumir at the age of 18 resided on the Vacek
family farm two miles north of Western with his mother Bessie.
In 1944, he met Irma (Homolka) who in 1946 became his
wife of 71 years. In later years, after retirement in Wilber,
Lumir enjoyed gardening, polka dancing, and exhibiting at
Saline County Fair.
Lumir is survived by his wife Irma, his daughter Janice
Smetter (Ron) of Lincoln, son Alvin Vacek of Lincoln.
Grandson's Eric Vacek (Rebecca) of Lincoln, Joshua
Vacek (Emily) of Hebron. Granddaughter Angel Eddy (Chad)
of Emery, SD. Grandson Sean Smetter (Shanda) of Lincoln.
Granddaughter Shana Blakeman (David) of Elizabethtown, KY.
Great Grandchildren Emma and Delaney Vacek of Lincoln,
Hutchinson and Heston Vacek of Hebron. Kelsey, Kristin, and
Katelyn Kotas of Emery, SD. Ashley Smetter of Lincoln.
Austin, Taylor, and Ashlyn Blakeman of Elizabethtown, KY.
Step greatgrandsons Jacob, Jevin, and Jaden Eddy of Emery,
SD.
Preceded in death by his parents, brother Eddie Vacek, and
daughter in law Linda Vacek.
Visitation with family present will be on Friday from
6-8pm at Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber, NE.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 17th at 1:30 pm
at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Wilber Czech Cemetery
Memorials are in care of family for future designation.
