Margaret A. Homolka "Granny", age 96 years 4 months, the daughter of Albert and Agnes (Yeck) Radil was born at her parent's home located 2 miles west and 4 ¾ miles north of Western, NE on February 8, 1922. She passed away June 8, 2018 at the Wilber Care Center. Margaret was baptized in the Catholic Faith at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Milligan. She attended Busy Bee School District 21 through the 8th grade and graduated with the class of 1939 from Tobias High School. She went on to attend Peru State Teachers College and taught 7 years in rural schools (Busy Bee, Opossum Hill, and Oak Groove) in Saline County. Margaret married Arnold Homolka on September 16, 1947 at Saline County Courthouse in Wilber, NE. At this time the couple moved to a farm located 2 miles west and 1 ½ miles south of Western where they farmed and raised cattle. To this union two sons were born, Arnold Jr. and Kevin. She loved her family and was fortunate having her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren living nearby. Her desire was for them to receive a good education. After her husband's death in May 1997, she continued living on the farm. She enjoyed her flowers, garden, pets, family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved visiting with family, friends, neighbors, and all those she met. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law; Arnold Jr. and wife, Patience, Kevin and wife Sheryl all of Western. Seven grandchildren Wendee Lynn (Scott) Sobotka of Tobias, Kevin Jr. (Julie) Homolka of Western, Mindee Ann (Clint) Jones of Daykin, Patti Jean (John) Lakey of Waverly, Misty Jo (Brad) Kotas of Swanton, Joseph Albert Homolka of Western, and Brandi Joan (Jason) Domling of Geneva; thirteen great-grandchildren Jaicee, Josiee, and Jaylee Sobotka, Jayton, Jarrett, Jarron, and Jaymee Jones, Tanner and Wyatt Lakey, Kelsey and Allyssa Kotas, Lilly Homolka, and Karlie Domling. Extended family members include Fayrene Hamouz, and daughter Michell, LaJean Hamouz and children Lisa and Ron, Charles Vajgrt and wife Sue and son Justin, and many relatives and friends. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Agnes (Yeck) Radil, husband Arnold Homolka, sister Helen Hamouz, brother-in-law Lew Hamouz, nephews Darrel and Myron Hamouz, sister-in-law Lillian Vajgrt and brother-in-law Charles Vajgrt. Services: Tuesday, 10:30 am, Kuncl Funeral Home, Wilber. Visitation: Monday, 5 – 8 pm, funeral home. Memorials are in care of the family.
