Obituary

Marilyn Jean (Tibbetts) Korinek (1-10-34 to 10-19-2022)

Marilyn passed away surrounded by her family at the age of 88. She was born on Sagamore ranch on The South Divide in Chase County Nebraska. 1-10-34 to Beniah Cecil Tibbetts and Jessie Isobel (Cain) Tibbetts. Not being a fan of housework and cooking, she spent most of her days doing outdoor chores with the guys. Not to be out done, at the age of 5 or 6, she climbed the windmill with her older brother and sister to watch for the family to come home. Unfortunately her descent didn't go so well and she took the shortcut by falling. She was in a body cast for a while after that.

She attended Prairie Rose School until they moved into town. She graduated from Chase County High school in 1952. After graduation she moved to Denver and worked for Russell Stovers. She met Donald Brabb and was married September 21st, 1953. They had 3 children. Timothy (Tim), Kim and William (Bill). They lived in Imperial for about 3 years before moving to Lincoln. They were later divorced.

She married Harold Korrinek several years later and they made their home in Crete, Nebraska. She worked many years for the State of Nebraska until retiring at 55. She and Harold attended many Nebraska football games over the years and traveled to as many Bowl games as possible. Early trips were spent on the road and camping in a small tent. Later they purchased a camper for their travels. She was a member and past president of the VFW Auxiliary, a member of the Eagles club, and belonged to the Sr. Citizens group and was an avid Pinochle player. She was involved with her church, Grace United Methodist, and a member of the united Methodist Women's group, now Women in Faith.

She enjoyed all of the time spent with her grandkids and great grandkids as well as her grand dogs Autumn and Itzy. She was well known for her fudge and homemade macaroni and cheese. She is survived by her daughter Kim (Dave) Hier, son Tim (Connie) Brabb, sisters Maureen (Albert) Moeller, Linda (Glen) Beck and brother Lynn (Jaci) Tibbetts. Granddaughters Kelsi Brabb, Jessica (Brandon) Koopman, Tiffany (Troy) Renk, and Cassandra Hier, Great Grandchildren Aubry, Bailey, and Hayden Koopman. Brenna and Maggie Renk, many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by ex-husband Donald Brabb and husband Harold Korinek, mother Jessie Tibbetts, father Beniah C Tibbetts, brother Robert Tibbetts, sister Marjorie Lesh and son William (Bill) Brabb.
