Marsha Jean Vernon, 57, of Crete passed away Nov. 26, 2016 at Wilber Care Center following a courageous, year-long battle against cancer. Born May 17, 1959 in Crete to Harold & Irene (Bean) Rhynalds. Attended Crete Public Schools. Married Bill Vernon on April 5, 1980 in Crete. Except for one year when she lived in Coon Rapids, IA., Marsha was a life-long Crete resident. Worked at Formfit Rogers in Crete and at various medical facilities as a nurse's aide and in record-keeping. Also worked at Crete nursing home, Wheeler's and for the past 9 years as price coordinator at Crete Foodmart. Marsha is survived by her husband of 36 years, Bill, of Crete; sons and daughters-in-law Dustin (Samantha) Vernon of Lincoln, Brandon (Kendra) Vernon of Lincoln, son Daylon Vernon of Crete. Grandchildren Alyssa, Marlea, Weston, Chas, Chase. Brothers and sisters-in-law Larry (Marge) Rhynalds of Wilber, Terry (Nancy) Rhynalds of Lincoln, Bill (Janet) Rhynalds of Prague. Brothers-in-law Jim Vernon, Bob (Anne) Vernon, Fritz (Marsha) Vernon, Don (Danielle Clark) Vernon. Sisters-in-law Deb (Daryl Blue) Hammond, Theresa Vernon, Kay (Jim) Clark, Susan (Daryl) Witt. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Preceded in death by parents; son, Justin; brother, Ronald; grandparents, brothers-in-law Eldon Vernon, John Vernon. Honorary pallbearers: Marsha's brothers and their spouses, and Shad Rhynalds. Pallbearers: Grandchildren. Services are Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 10:30 am, Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete; casual attire requested. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 – 8 pm at the funeral home. Private family interment at a later time. Memorials are in care of the family for future designation in lieu of flowers.
