Obituary

Mary Ann McComas, age 80, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2020. She was born on December 24, 1939 in Friend, Nebraska to Ralph and Blanche (Pospisil) Heeren. Mary Ann graduated from Dorchester High School in 1958. She then left for Washington D.C. to work for the C.I.A. It was in Washington D.C. where she met her future husband, MSgt Edward McComas USMC. They raised three children together while moving all around the country. Mary was a sweet, kind, compassionate soul whose smile and laughter was infectious. Her greatest passion in life was spending time with her family and friends who will carry her memories in their hearts forever. Mary loved experiencing life through travel with her loving family. She enjoyed capturing those memories with pictures and had a gift of creating beautiful scrapbooks that we will cherish forever. Mary was a member of the Alpha Theta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority who treasured her time with her beautiful sisters greatly. Mary Ann McComas will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Dianne and (Kraig) Barron of Indianapolis, IN, Patricia and (Brian) Bromberek of Westfield, IN; grandchildren, Michael and (Megan) Berns of Fayetteville, NC, Katelyn and (Bobby) Brewers of Charlotte, NC, Allison Barron of Indianapolis, IN, Sarah, Hayden, and Erin Bromberek of Westfield, IN; twin great-granddaughters, Genevieve and Vivienne Berns; sister-in-law, Dona Heeren of Dorchester, NE; nephew, Jim Jr. and (Darla) Heeren; nieces, Barbara Rohrbough and Jody and (Bob) Vogt; and the many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Blanche (Pospisil) Heeren; her loving son, Michael McComas; and her brother, Jim Heeren Sr. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete. Burial will follow at Dorchester Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 P.M. on Monday, December 28th  at the funeral home.   Funeral arrangements are being handled by Kuncl Funeral Home, 131 West 12th Street Crete, Nebraska 68333.
