Mary Jean
(Rademacher) Stenicka
December 9, 1928 – January 14, 2019
Mary Jean (Rademacher) Stenicka enjoyed 90 memorable years. Mary was born in York, Nebraska to Clara (Booth) Rademacher and Frank A. Rademacher. She was the granddaughter of Mary Pavlik and Frank Joseph Rademacher of Crete. Mary graduated from York High School and attended the University of Nebraska. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Texas at El Paso and received a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Texas Women's University. She was a passionate and talented teacher. Mary was proud of her Nebraska heritage and enjoyed living in York, Omaha and Lincoln. She was thankful for her Heights neighbors and was a longstanding, contributing member in that Richardson, Texas neighborhood. She worked hard at making her garden one of the prettiest on the block. Mary was an active member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, from greeter to Bible Study to the Saturday night group gathering after church. She loved being in the sisterhood of Kappa, Kappa Gamma because she found welcoming, dear friends in every city in which she lived. Family, friends, neighbors, doctors, nurses, aides and even brief acquaintances will remember her quick wit, strength, energy, hilarious quips, fun-loving demeanor and the wonderful times together laughing and telling stories. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Frank, Jr. She is survived by her brother, Richard, her children: Melissa Fleming, husband Dan; Mark Stenicka, wife Cyd; Catherine Crawford, husband, Greg; and Marcia Cook. The lights of her life were her granddaughters: Lauren, Sarah, and Katie, and her great granddaughters: Elizabeth and Caroline. A lifelong Catholic, her Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 515 East 14th St., Crete Nebraska on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, Mary's request is to continue supporting the Sacred Heart School that her grandparents help to build by contributing to the St. James School Endowment Fund or Matching Fund to update the old gym and hall. Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete, Nebraska is handling arrangements.
