Obituary

Mary Ann Zeman Zach, 79, passed away at her home in Wilber with family by her side on February 27, 2023.

Mary Ann was born on February 3, 1944, to Adolph and Mary (Korinek) Zeman, she lived on the farm with her parents and sister Veronica and brother Leonard.

Mary Ann was baptized at the Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilber, attended country school District # 34, and graduated from Wilber High School in 1962.

Mary Ann married Edward Zach on October 12, 1963, at the Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilber and made their home in Wilber.

Mary Ann worked at Formfit Rogers in Crete for 21 years until they closed, and over the years she worked in Health Care and was previously employed at Whispering Winds Cottage.

Mary Ann was a very hard worker and liked to stay busy all the time, together her and her husband owned Zach's Car Wash and had mowed lawns for several people in Wilber. Mary Ann kept the Car Wash going after her husband passed away in 2014 and then sold the Car Wash in 2021.

Mary Ann had a kind and jovial spirit and a generous heart, she always loved visiting and socializing with people either in person or over the phone.

Mary Ann enjoyed planting her flowers every year, a small garden of vegetables, and was a collector of cookbooks and chickens.

Family and holiday time were a special time for Mary Ann, when everyone gathered together around the table for a meal, conversations, stories and laughs.

In the winter months Mary Ann would love to occupy her time by doing hand embroidery of quilt blocks and made many quilts for her family over the years.

Mary Ann took great pride in being able to work right up until she became critically ill in February 2023.

Mary Ann is survived by daughter Pam Kozeal and husband Randy of Wilber, adopted daughter Becky Zach of Bloomfield, NE, granddaughter Lindsey and husband Sam of Wilber, grandson, Tyler and granddaughter Rya both of Bloomfield, NE, and great grandsons Paxton of Wilber and  Lee and Quentin of Tecumseh Ne.  And special friend Dave Swavely, of Beatrice. Sister-in-law Ann Zeman of Eagle, NE, Sister-in-law Lois Zach of Wilber, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Alvin & Phyllis Zach of Lincoln, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in Death by her parents, husband Edward, sister Veronica, and brother Leonard,

Services will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber.  Family requests casual attire for funeral service. Visitation is Monday from 5 – 7 PM at the funeral home.  Memorials entrusted to the family for future designation. Arrangements entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber.
