Matthew "Matt" Christian Meyers, 45, of Crete, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly at home on May 15, 2025. Born on February 5, 1980, Matt attended several local schools before graduating from Crete High School. He later studied at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and spent time abroad in Germany. He worked professionally as an electrician and HVAC technician.

Matt was a man of wide-ranging interests, but above all, he was devoted to his family and passionate about boxing. His greatest achievements were not titles or accolades, but the deep and lasting impact he had on the lives of those around him. Steady, wise, and confident, he was a source of strength and care for all who knew him.

He found boundless joy in time spent with his daughters, whether playing games, taking family trips, or exploring National Parks together. He loved learning and was endlessly curious. He was also a proud Girl Scout dad and loved being involved in the lives of his girls.

In recent years, Matt poured his energy into the world of boxing. He was deeply involved in USA Boxing, Golden Gloves, and World Boxing. As a Level 3 Official and Clinician, and an OIC (Official in Charge), he officiated numerous tournaments and events, including being The Official of the Tournament of Golden Gloves in Salt Lake City. In 2021, he was honored as the #1 Official in the United States for USA Boxing. For the past five years, he served as USA Boxing Nebraska's Chief of Officials, and he and his wife Amy traveled internationally representing World Boxing. In 2021, Matt was a National Golden Gloves Hall of Fame Inductee.

Matt is survived by his beloved wife, Amy, and their three daughters: Isabella, Amelia, and Liliahna. He also leaves behind his parents, Jim Meyers and Denise Bates; siblings Jim, Andy, and Myoma; in-laws Dan, Diane, Dan, John, Julie, Donna, and Brian; nieces and nephews LJ, Bryce, Preston, Linkin, Aubrey, Jewel, Noah, Logan, Maddy, Keaton, Jack, Gabe, Alex, Maddy, Kelsey, and Abby; as well as several great-nieces and nephews and many cherished friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Tuxedo Park Ag Hall in Crete. In honor of Matt's style—always looking sharp yet feeling comfortable—attire is nice casual.
