February 7, 1932 – July 2, 2023
Merle Darlene Fikar was born on February 7, 1932 in DeWitt, NE to James and Matilda (Outhet) Wade. She passed away on July 2, 2023 at the Wilber Care Center at the age of 91. Merle attended Wilber Grade and High School from where she graduated. She was united in marriage to Donald Edward Fikar on March 14, 1951. To this union, 6 children were born: Donald, Jr., Susan, Daryl, David, Diane and Darin. Merle was a member of the United Methodist Women. She taught Sunday School for several years and served at Secretary and Vice President. She was the longest serving member of the Wilber United Methodist Church. Merle was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, son Donald, Jr,. brothers: Clyde, Willis, Harold, Lawrence and James Wade, sisters: Ethel Pethoud, Pearle VanArsdale and Ruby Hayek. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Susan and Roger Kramer, Daryl and Rebecca Fikar, David Fikar, Diane Fikar and Gary Racicky and Darin Fikar. 11 grandchildren. Many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews. Memorials have been designated to the Wilber United Methodist Church, the Wilber Care Center or the Donald E. – Merle D. Fikar Czech Alumni Band Scholarship Fund. Services will be held on Monday, July 10, 2023 at 10:30 AM at the Wilber United Methodist Church. Visitation is on Sunday from 2 -4 PM at Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber. Arrangements entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber.
