Mikael R. Karlsson was born on August 21, 1969 to Rune and Lilian Irene (Karlsson) Carlsson, in Jonkoping, Sweden and passed away at his residence in rural, Wilber, Nebraska.
He is survived by his Beloved wife of 18 years Ruth, father; Rune Carlsson, brothers; Martin Karlsson, Magnus Karlsson, Mother and Father- in- law; William and Marilyn Anderton of Lenexa Kansas, Brother-in-law; Carl and wife Jerilyn Anderton of Merriam, KS, Sister-in-law; Joyce O'Connell and husband Mike O'Connell of Madison, WI, five precious nieces Katrina and Amelia Anderton of Merriam, KS, Erin, Meghan, and Grace O'Connell of Madison, WI.
Mike served in the French Foreign for 8 years exiting the Legion as a Lt Col. After his service in the Legion, Mike traveled extensively throughout the world spending the majority of his time in Australia and Israel.
Mike met the love of his life Ruth in the spring of 1998. They were married on November 14, 1998. Mike worked as a self-employed stock-photographer for many years before going to work for the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services serving as a Sergeant at
the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women in York and at the Nebraska State Penitentiary. He left Corrections to work for the Beatrice State Developmental Center as a Developmental Technician, providing personal care for eight men.
He was an avid reader, and he and Ruth enjoyed going to the movies together. He especially enjoyed their frequent travel to Oregon for family reunions with her family.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 15, 2016 at 1:30 PM at the United Methodist Church in Wilber, Nebraska.
