Obituary

Milo (Mike) Eugene Pesek, Jr. of Swanton, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025, with his wife of 65 years, Mari-Ann, by his side. Milo was born April 14, 1939, west of Swanton, Nebraska.

Milo attended District 15 until 8th grade and graduated from Swanton High School in 1957. On June 27, 1959, Milo married Mari-Ann Henry at the Swanton Methodist Church. They lived on a farm west of Swanton and in July of 1962, they moved to the current farm where Milo lived until he went to the Wilber Care Center.

Milo farmed his whole life with his wife and family. He raised cattle, hogs, corn, wheat, milo, soybeans, and alfalfa.

Milo was active in the Western Grange, where he and Mari-Ann were the Nebraska State Grange Young Couple of the Year in 1973. He was also a member of the Saline County Pork Producers and served as president from 1980-1981. Milo was a member of the Saline County Fair board from 1974-1986. He was a member of the Swan Valley Cemetery Association.

Milo, along with his father, was a Wilson seed dealer for 40 years. Milo was a member of the Swanton United Methodist Church.

Milo was passionate about raising cattle, listening to polka music, visiting with people in person or on the phone. He especially loved his classic International tractors. Red Power, in Milo's mind, had no association with the Huskers and had everything to do with his tractors.

Milo is preceded in death by his parents, Milo, Sr. and Matilda (Kasl) Pesek, in-laws Arthur and Ella (Ruzicka) Henry, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Marion (Bud) and Louise Henry.

He is survived by his wife Mari-Ann, children Michael (Terri) Pesek, Michele Pesek, and Mitchell (Alisa) Pesek; grandchildren Becky (Jason) Bartels, Mick (Darci) Pesek, Rachel (Craig) Degenhardt, Michaela Pesek, Russell Pesek, Ethan (Margaret) Renner, and Eli (Rebekah) Renner; great-grandchildren Chase, Beau, and Cole Bartels, Landon and Lawson Pesek, Dax, Flynn, and Josey Degenhardt, Maeve and Holland Renner; nieces Alison Henry and Lisa (Jay) Henry Vasquez; many relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, January 15, at 10:30 AM, at the Swanton Auditorium in Swanton. Interment will be at the Swan Valley Cemetery following the service.

Milo chose to be cremated. No visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the family to be given to the Swanton United Methodist Church and the Swan Valley Cemetery Association. Arrangements entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber.
