Our precious angel Nolan Timothy Lee Kersten passed away peacefully, August 7, 2021 after his battle with Canavan Disease. Nolan was born April 8, 2019 to Andrew Kersten and Breeanna Shields both of Lincoln.  Nolan was diagnosed with Canavan Disease at 8 months old and lived his best possible life laughing and loving till the end.  Despite his short time on earth, he was loved so deeply and brought immense joy to those around him.

In addition to his parents, Nolan is survived by his aunts: Katie Shields, Charlee Haecker and Aedra Trauernicht, uncles: Blake Shields, Jayden Shields, Isaiah Trauernicht, Zayden Godinez and Bryson Godinez.  Paternal grandparents: Aaron Trauernicht, Sarah and Nathan Godinez. Maternal grandparents Dawn Swoboda and Scott Shields, paternal great grandparents: Ron and Jodee Trauernicht, Doug and Anne Kersten. Maternal great grandma Pam Sittner, great aunts: Morgan Trauernicht, Justi Trauernicht, Becca Underwood, Laura Kersten and Nicole Sittner, great uncle Danny Underwood, great great grandmas: Gaynelle Coulter, Virginia Kersten and Phyllis Shields, numerous cousins and other relatives who loved Nolan very much. Nolan was welcomed by the arms of his Uncle Bryson Haecker and great uncle Tim Kersten, as well as additional family.

The family would also like to thank Nurse Kelly and everyone at Horizon Hospice for all of the  wonderful care they gave Nolan.

A viewing will be held Friday August 13th from 6-8 and funeral Saturday August 14th at 1pm, both at Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete NE.  A celebration of life ice cream social to follow.  Private burial at a later date. Memorials are in care of Kuncl Funeral Home.  Arrangements entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.
