Olga F. Weidner passed away on June 14, 2023 at Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln, NE at the age of 87. She was born on November 9, 1935 in Saline County to Henry and Albie (Kohel) Vetrovsky. Olga grew up mainly in the Wilber area. She graduated from Wilber High School in 1953 and worked at the local grocery store. On January 26, 1955, Olga married Dewayne Kattau at the Kramer Church parsonage. The couple lived for a short time south of Wilber with her parents and then moved to the farm east of Kramer where they made their home for many years. Throughout her years, Olga helped Dewayne on the farm in a variety of chores. She worked at the Crete Manor from which she retired and then began working part time at Malone's Restaurant in Crete where she was well known for her traditional Czech foods, which included liver dumpling soup and kolaches. She was instrumental in their Sunday Czech buffet. Olga retired from the restaurant after many years of cooking and baking. On September 5, 1999, Olga married Fredrick Weidner at the St. John Lutheran Church in Kramer. They made their home south of Kramer and she continued baking her Czech foods for people for many more years. Olga was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aide (through which she assisted with many funeral meals over the years), the Hallam Legion Auxiliary, and the LMWL for over 50 years. But her greatest joy was caring for her grandchildren, especially Maddie. Olga was preceded in death by her parents, parents in law: Fred and Kate Kattau, husband: Dewayne, son: Dennis, brothers in law and sisters in law: Fred Kattau, Jr., Minnie Kattau, Raymond and Kate Kattau, Lavern and Elmer Wendelin, Annice and Herman Weidner, nephew in law: Dale Gropp. Survivors include her husband: Fred Weidner, children and spouses: Denise and Frank Slama, Debra and Tom Ourada, Douglas Kattau. Grandchildren: Vicky Slama, Charles and Codi Slama, Eric and Blythe Dewey, Jackie Ourada, Jace Ourada, Madison Kattau. 12 great grandchildren. Nieces: Diane Gropp and Marilyn Weidner. Nephew: Ron Weidner. Services will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023 at 10:30 AM at St. John Lutheran Church in Kramer (casual attire is requested). Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 – 4 PM at Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete (family will not be present). Memorials can be made to St. John Lutheran Church or the Hallam Fire Department. Arrangements entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.
