Pauline Ann "Polly" Placek was called out of this life to Life Eternal on August 8, 2018 at Gardenside in Fairbury, NE. She was born on June 22, 1946, in Plymouth to Ronald and Gladys (Theye) Blobaum. Polly married Joseph Placek on June 25, 1971, in Beatrice. The Lord blessed this union with four children: Laura, Holly, Chris and Matthew. The couple farmed near Swanton and then later moved to the family farm near Western. Polly was employed at Swingsters and as a cook and waitress in various area establishments. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and Sudoku puzzles. She loved to cook and bake for her family. She enjoyed the birds that would gather around her birdbath and had a fondness for puppies. Polly especially enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. She was a member of the Swanton American Legion Auxiliary. At an early age she was baptized. After being instructed in the principal parts of Christian doctrine, she was confirmed on August 17, 2017, by Pastor Fred Berger and became a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Plymouth. Her confirmation verse was John 3:16. Polly was a faithful listener to St. Paul's video broadcast and regularly received the Lord's Supper for the assurance of the forgiveness of her sins. She is survived by two daughters, Laura and her husband Todd Eisnach of DeWitt, and Holly and her husband Perry Lane of Grand Island; two sons, Chris and his wife Brenda Placek of Daykin, and Matthew and his wife Courtney Placek of Council Bluffs; six grandchildren, Tony Placek, Kristynn Brant, Lindsey Brant, Kenna Placek, Brett Placek and Dorcey Placek; two brothers, Ron Mays of Napa, CA, and Donald and his wife Elaine Blobaum of Harbine; one sister-in-law, Jean Tachovsky of Swanton; nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph; her parents; and three sisters, Anita Baumfalk, Vi Kasparek, and Kathy Carstens. A Celebration of Polly's life will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber, NE. Casual attire is requested. Memorials are in care of the family for future designation. Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber is in charge of arrangements.
