Phyllis E. Burse, 68, of Crete, passed away April 2, 2017 at Tabitha in Crete after a ten year battle with cancer. She was born on November 20, 1948 to Leonard E. and Doris L. (DeNoyer) Tolen in North Loup, Nebraska. Phyllis grew up in North Loup, and she graduated in 1967 from North Loup Scotia High School. She moved to Grand Island, which is where she met Donald, and they were married in November of 1969. They then moved to Bakersfield, CA, the couple returned back to Nebraska, moving to Crete, NE. Phyllis worked for Farmland Foods for 36 years before retiring on February 13, 2012. Phyllis loved her Husker Football, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Royals. She had a strong love for her grandchildren and she enjoyed going to breakfast with her friends from work.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Donald E. Burse, Jr. in 1996.

Phyllis is survived by her children: Daniel Burse of Cleveland, Ohio, Ron Burse of Crete and Michelle Burse of Crete. Grandchildren: Aubrey Burse, Mylz Martinez-Burse, Aiden Martinez-Burse, all of Crete and Bayla Burse of Cleveland, Ohio. Brothers and sisters in law: Roger and Trisha Tolen of Middleton, Ohio, Larry Tolen of Lincoln, Dennis and Sherill Tolen of Grand Island. Sisters: Sheryl Coates of Crete and Sharlene Whitefoot of Ord. Many nieces, nephews and other family.

Celebration of Life: Friday, April 7, 2017 at 11:00 am, Kuncl Funeral Home, Crete with Rev. Dr. Wayne Reynolds officiating. No visitation. Memorials are in care of the family for future designation.
