Phyllis Jean Wendelin, 86, of Hallam, passed away May 18, 2018 at Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln. She was born on July 8, 1931 to Harry and Olie Trepka. She was the youngest of 4 children. Phyllis loved the outdoors, gardening, fishing, animals, and walking. She especially loved cooking and was very good at it. She loved working on the farm along with August. She married August Wendelin on September 23, 1950 in Crete. They farmed together for many years. They had 2 children: Ron and Sharon. In August of 2017, Phyllis was diagnosed with liver cancer. She fought a courageous battle and always kept a positive attitude. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers: Arnold and Harry, 1 sister: Irene. Phyllis is survived by her husband August, son and his wife, Ron and Becky, daughter, Sharon, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services are Tuesday, May 22nd at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kramer. Visitation is Monday from 5 – 8 p.m. at Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.
