With love and remembrance, we announce the passing of Richard Edward Patak, who left us on Sunday morning, November 10, 2024 at the age of 78.  Richard was born on September 28, 1946 in Lincoln, NE and is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Irene (Mashek) Patak and brother-in-law, Alan Larsen.

A lover of simple white t-shirts under a flannel shirt, a true craftsman and a farmer at heart, Richard was known for his passion for antique collecting, with a particular love for tractors and Aladdin oil lamps. He began his farming career in 1973 with D&L Farms in Hallam, Nebraska, where his dedication to agriculture and the land took root. Later, Richard transitioned to a career as a mechanic, launching his own business, D&D Auto Repair, in Denton, Nebraska. In 2005, he moved to Burr Oak, Kansas, where he worked for Kansas Game and Parks, tending to Lovewell and Wakonda Lakes, a role that suited his love for nature, fishing and the outdoors.

Richard Edward Patak is survived by his children, Bob Patak (Christy), Stacy Christmann (Tom), Jon Patak (Marcy) and Donnie Patak (Kristine); siblings Steve Patak (Theresa), Jeani Larsen and brother Mike Patak (Amber).  Richard had nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete, NE.  Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Internment with military honors will take place following the service at Camden Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the VFW Club in Crete.  Family and friends are invited to attend as we celebrate and honor Richard's life.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Grace Space Hospice Home in Lincoln, NE.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of CHI Hospice Services and The Grace Space Hospice Home for providing support and comfort during Richard's journey home.
