Richard Lee Zoubek passed away on June 12, 2016 in rural Western, Nebraska. He was born on June 10, 1944 in Friend, Nebraska to John E and Evelyn (Rasplicka) Zoubek. He went to Country School #120, and then graduated from Wilber High School in 1962. He worked for Biba Construction on Highway 41 as a welder, and also for Melvin Kastanek for about five years.
He was married to Betty Pelican in July of 1964. They bought Jim Kresaks farm and lived there for 52 happy years. To this union three children were born, Christine, Lori and Dan. Richard loved farming, and restoring Massey tractors. For about 15 years he got into pulling antique tractors and won many awards. It took some years, but he was blessed with six granddaughters and one grandson. And as much as he loved them all, his grandson was his pride and joy.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents John and Evelyn Zoubek and father and mother in law Frank and Mildred Pelican and brother in law Ronald Horak. Survived by his loving wife Betty Zoubek, daughter Christine Zoubek, daughter and son in law Lori and Justin Bauer, son and daughter in law Dan and Beth Zoubek, grandchildren Cassandra Bruder, Mackenzie Bruder, Lily Zoubek, Holly Zoubek, Zoe Bauer, Sage Zoubek and Eli Zoubek. Also by his brother and sister in laws; Ronnie and Shirley Zoubek and Randy and Shirley Zoubek, Sister in law Norma Horak, brother in law and wife Frank and Bettie Pelican and many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of life/open house will be held Thursday beginning at 2:00 pm, Saline Center Hall. All friends welcome and casual attire requested. Memorials in care of family.
