Rick Lee Buchanan of Milford, Nebraska passed away unexpected on March 17, 2024, at the age of 65 years young. Rick was the son of Herman and Mary Jane (Rahe) Buchanan of Crete NE. He was a 1978 graduate from Crete High School and an avid golfer at College Heights County Club.

Rick loved his family, cooking meals, hunting, fishing, Friday night movies, UFC fights, wrestling, golfing, and so much more. He left behind many wonderful memories.

His impulsiveness that lead to living each day to the fullest, like buying a boat, taking up golf, his wood working, buying hunting dogs to squirrel and raccoon hunt, trapping rodents, planting gardens, buying us girls a 69 Cobra Mustang to drive in high school, going on all the awesome vacations, buying dirt bikes for the boys and then a motor home, buying a farm, or putting in a coy pond. Gosh he was adventurous! He was quick to buy it if it meant fun for him and his family. If he had a dream…. He made it a reality. Oh ya, and Christmas was a zillion presents for every kid and grandkid, with chaos and paper flying Christmas morning everywhere.

We always gave him a hard time about eating too much salt, or sugar…..he would always say, I'm gonna die one way so I'm gonna enjoy my life, as he filled his plate with more lays chips, drank his 32oz coke and ate those Casey's donuts.

When he loved, he loved hard.  He often took care of others before himself! Moreover, his family was everything to him.

He worked hard to give us a good life, to raise a family right out of high school. We grew up in a trailer park starting out and made the best memories with amazing friends that also became family.  All we knew was love from him. We always had a good meal, nice things and a roof over our head.

He was a great dad and will be missed dearly.  We love you more than you ever know. Keep painting us beautiful skies. Until we meet again.

Rick L Buchanan 65, of Milford Nebraska passed away Sunday March 17th, 2024, in his sleep at home. He was born November 21, 1958. He worked at farmland for 20 years. He then decided to go back to school and graduated from Southeast Community college, in 2002. He worked at Crete Area Medical Center as head of maintenance for 20 years. He is survived by his mother, MaryJane Buchanan of Crete, NE. His three daughters; Sarah and Tom Nyhof of Temple, TX. Susan and Dustin Wollenburg of Gretna, NE. Sheri and Ryan Daugherty of Kearney, NE. His two sons; Thomas Buchanan of Lincoln, NE and Shawn Buchanan, of Hickman, NE. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Tasia Nyhof, Kylinn Daugherty, Eddie Nyhof, Korry Daugherty, Lily Wollenburg, Kally Daugherty, Nia Nyhof, Kollyns Daugherty, and one great granddaughter Baylor Buchanan. Rick was proceeded in death by his father, Herman Buchanan, his grandparents, many beloved aunts and uncles, as well as cousins. Rick had many hobbies including boating, gardening, golfing, wood working, buying and breeding hunting dogs, hunting animals big and small, as well as trapping. Rick was quick to buy if it meant fun for him and his family. He bought his girls a 70s Shelby Mustang to drive in high school, trips to Disney, he bought dirt bikes for the boys, motor homes for family trips. Rick took pride in his farm outside of Milford and enjoyed his days farming the land. He sure had many adventures and lived life to the fullest!
