Rick Lynn Nettifee, 60, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side in the early morning of March 20th 2017. Rick was born July 7th 1956 in Mason City, Iowa to Wilbert and Donna. He had a mischievous and humorous childhood with his brothers Dennis and Greg. He excitedly attended Iowa University and graduated with his Bachelor's Degree and later graduated with his Master's Degree from Doane College. Rick served in Law Enforcement in Iowa and Kansas before having the honor to serve as the Chief of Police in Crete from January 1987 to December 1994. He was united in marriage to Diann on December 3rd 1994. Together they were proud parents that loved their children and enjoyed attending their activities. Rick became a Grandpa in 2003 and was happier than ever! He absolutely adored and loved all of his Grandbabies! Along with his family, the Iowa Hawkeyes, fishing and Civil War history were some of his favorite passions! He was never without Hawkeyes gear and was one of the friendliest and most talkative people in the world. He was a True Blessing! Rick is survived by his loving wife Diann, brother Dennis, children Tara Nettifee, Jarrod (Sara) Nettifee, Hollie (Garrett) Mehl, Jena Eggebraaten (David Bellinger), Megan Eggebraaten (Mark Sand) grandchildren Mason, Carter, Evannie, Maddyn, Carson, Layla, Isaac, Mila, Evalina, Scarlett, Grayson, Cai, baby Mehl, several nieces, nephews, and countless friends. Rick is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, mother and father in-law, and younger brother Greg. Celebration of Life: Friday, 11:00 am, Kuncl Funeral Home, Crete.
