Robert E. (Bob) Slama, Western, 69, passed away on 12/28/17 at the Wilber Care Center. Bob was born in Lincoln, NE on October 12, 1948 to Elmer & Evelyn (Kobes) Slama. He married Carolyn J. Meyers on Jan 2, 1970 at the Wilber Courthouse. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969- 1973 and is a Vietnam Veteran. After the Army, they lived in Wilber for 8 years and moved to Western in 1979. He worked at Crete Mills for 45 years and was a member of the Western American Legion Post 255. His hobbies were camping and gardening. He enjoyed sharing his extra produce with friends and family. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, brother John and granddaughter Allison. Survived by: wife Carolyn of Western, daughter Tammy and Don Wurm of Plymouth, sons Lyle and Glenda Slama of Reynolds and Josh Slama of Western; sister Mary Ann Rezac and significant other, Joe of Weston; brothers Gene and Teresa Slama of Western, Leon and Wanda Slama of Wilber, Roger Slama and significant other, Nancy of Wilber; 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 - 8 PM at the funeral home. The family requests that those attending the funeral wear red/Husker or NASCAR shirts and jeans to the funeral. Memorials are in care of the family.
