Robert M. Vilda's Obituary
Robert M. Vilda Sr 54, died Saturday, September 24, 2016 at his home with family and friends by his side following his battle with Cancer. He was born to Margaret and Delton (Barry) Vilda November 8, 1961 and was a lifelong resident of Crete, NE. He worked for the Garbage Company in Crete, NE for 20+ years, owned and operated B & L Refuse, Crete Recycling Center in Crete and worked concrete throughout his life. He met Lisa Rohn in 7th grade and they were married on August 1, 1981. To this union were born Robert (Bobby) Vilda Jr, Sarah Steelman, Katie Vilda and Thomas (Tommy) Vilda. They later divorced July of 2001.
His past time enjoyments, while young were, stock car racing and mud dragging. He loved to have garage parties, while watching Nascar with family and friends. His passion though, was setting bank lines in the Big Blue River for catfish in order be able to hold fish fries.
Subsequently his relationship with Diana Schultz blessed him with another son Delton E Vilda. He later married Cindy Winchel on August 21, 2009 and they made their home on the north end of Crete next to the Big Blue River near his favorite fishing place.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Cindy Vilda of Crete, son Robert Vilda Jr of Lincoln, son Thomas Vilda and Fiance Paige Runcie of Dewitt, Daughter Sarah and Daniel Steelman of Odell, Daughter Kathryn Vilda and Fiance Josh Schlaefli of Beatrice, son Delton Vilda of Vauxite, Arkansas, step-daughter Natalia Dean of Odessa, TX. and ex-wife Lisa (Rohn) Vilda. He also considered Will Deollos of Dewitt and Josh Korble of Crete as his own. Step brother Terry and his wife Jan Pallas of Arvada, CO, step sister Bonnie Pallas of Waterloo, NE, Richard and his wife Bonnie Pallas of Liberty, NE and Barry "Stubs" Vilda of Lincoln, NE, Uncle Lary and wife JoAnne Vilda of Lincoln, NE, Aunts Carol Hagen and Mary Heideker. Cousins, neices and nephews.
Grandchildren Tyson, Dominick and Trenton Schmid, Dylan Steelman, Tayvin Schlaefli and baby to be Preston Vilda.
Celebration of Life will be held at the Crete, NE Eagles Club 132 West 12th Street, Saturday October 1, 2016, 12-5 pm.
