Robin Scott Mayer was born on Oct. 2, 1961 in Sidney, Nebraska to Chuck and Donna Mayer. He was baptized at the Potter Lutheran Church. Robin spent his early years on a farm north of Potter. The family moved to Malcom, NE and Robin attended the 5th grade there. A new house was built by Kramer Lake. Robin attended 6th – 12th grades in Crete, graduating in 1980.He enjoyed crop dusting with his Dad and helping with the animals.
Education was always important to Robin. He earned his degree in accounting from SCC in Beatrice in 1982. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Peru State College in 1984 and finished his Master's degree in 1990 through Central Michigan University.
Robin met Diane Schuerman in January of 1980. They were married on August 7, 1982 at the Salem United Methodist Church in Clatonia, Nebraska. The couple had a daughter, Christina and a son, Miles.The couple later divorced.
Over the years Robin had various jobs. One of his first jobs was as a certified diesel mechanic, he worked at the bank in Clatonia, worked at the gas station, was in the insurance business, worked in finance office at BVCA, in the accounting office at Husquavarna, did tax work on his own, and had various teaching positions. Robin especially enjoyed teaching. He taught business courses at the Penitentiary, Lincoln School of Commerce, Doane and Peru. Robin loved working with all kinds of people and enjoyed being able to help them.
Robin loved to travel and especially loved spending time on the beach. There were many travels over the years and just a few years ago, Robin, Miles, Christina and Donna took a trip to Spain and Italy, and they went on a Mediterranean cruise.
In Robin's words he was a philosopher and a poet. He loved life and he lived life fast. He was especially proud of his family.
He instilled his love of learning in his children. Tina has a Master's Degree and Miles is working on his Doctorate. He also was very supportive of Miles' music.
Robin was preceded in death by his brothers; Milton at age 5 and Kim at age 46 and by his father, Chuck.
He is survived by his mother, Donna Mayer, daughter, Christina Mayer, son Miles Mayer and former wife, Diane Mayer as well as a host of friends.
The memorial service will be held at Kuncl Funeral Home, 607 W. 3rd St. in Wilber, Nebraska on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 4:00 pm with Rev. Lila Bottolfsen officiating. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Clatonia Fire and Rescue or Salem United Methodist Church in Clatonia.
