Roger Alan Kotas, of rural Wilber, NE, died Thursday, December 6th, 2018 at his home. He was 67 years young. He was born January 20th, 1951 to Frank and Sylvia (Zoubek) Kotas. Roger married Carol Prothman in Albion, Nebraska on October 11th, 1975. After his graduation from high school, Roger worked for Biba Construction, traveling the state of Nebraska doing road construction. Roger then worked for American Stores in Lincoln. Following his marriage to his wife Carol, they moved to their farm west of Wilber. He worked for Glen Schwisow of Swanton doing dirt work and started farming on his own. In 1978 he was able to fulfill his lifetime wish to farm full-time; raising row crops, pigs, cattle and hay. Roger loved the outdoors and loved to pass his love of the outdoors on to all. He spent many hours driving around the section, pointing out wildlife to anyone willing to sit in the passenger seat. He especially loved the opportunity to pass his love of hunting and fishing on to children, big and small. Roger enjoyed going with friends and family to ball games, especially those of his grandkids and close family friends. Roger is survived by his wife: Carol, son: Brad Kotas and wife Misty of rural Swanton, NE, daughter: Lisa Schole and husband Nathan of rural Hooper, NE, 4 grandkids: Kelsey Kotas (13), Allyssa Kotas (7), Brock Schole (8), and Taylor Schole (5), brothers and spouses: Gerald and Lois Kotas, Melvin and Barb Kotas, sister and spouse: Karen and Myron Hayek, and mother in law and father in law: Ray and Clarene Prothman of rural Albion, NE. He is also survived by numerous brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces and nephews. A celebration of Roger's life will be held Monday, December 10th at 11 a.m. at Saline Center Lodge #389. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 9th from 3-5 p.m. at Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber. The family requests casual attire.
