Roland (Rolly) Calvin Church II

August 29 ^th , 1946 – March 16 ^th , 2022

Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lee and Mike, and a grandchild.

Survived by his wife, Denise; sons, Roland Church III (Chris), Jerry Hessheimer Church, Chris Inness (Jenny), Erickson Church, Lee Church; daughters, Rosa Church, Natalie Church, Ellen Duke, Alice Church; Six grandchildren; and siblings, Shorty (Merle) wife (Pam), Rod (Susan), Kevin (Deanne), Alice, and J.B.

Rolly was raised on a farm outside of Hickman, NE. Being the oldest of eight children gave him some leadership skills – or maybe made him more "bossy". According to his favorite sis he could enjoy torturing his younger siblings. After high school, Rolly joined the Marines, serving in Vietnam. After his service ended his sense of wanderlust continued on, leading to road trips, Sunday drives, and moving a large piano from town to town.

Family was of great importance to Rolly and he would place that before his own interests. When he did have time to spare he loved to get involved with the local church, community, and government.

His other interests included; reading, gardening, basketball, being outdoors, writing, and running.

After working for the city of Crete for 25 years he retired in 2013 and moved into Crete with his wife Denise where he spent most of his time working on projects in the garage, reading his Bible, and doing devotionals with his wife.

Rolly was greatly loved (despite his terrible puns) and will be missed.

A memorial Service will be held at 2 PM Sat, March 19 ^th at Crete Berean Church, 395 County Road 2500, Crete, NE. Coffee and fellowship to follow. Please send cards and condolences to 1028 Juniper Ave., Crete, NE 68333.
