Ronald Milo Broz passed away November 10, 2022, surrounded by his loving family in Crete at The Gardens.
In a little farm house southwest of Wilber, Ron was born to Milo A. and Blanche P. (Strouf) Broz.
Ron started school speaking only Czech at District #5. In 1948 the family moved north of Wilber and Ron attended District #9 through 8th grade. Ron graduated from Wilber High School in 1956.
On January 28, 1957, Ron enlisted in the United States Army Reserve where he spent 6 months active duty at Fort Gordon, Georgia. After serving 8 years, he was honorably discharged January 27, 1965.
On September 14, 1958, at the Crete United Methodist Church Ron and Sue Ellen Heckman were united in marriage. To this loving union three daughters, Crystal, Robbin, and Ronda were born.
Ron began his Christian journey with his baptism at the Crete Methodist Church by Reverend Green on March 25, 1964. Since then Ron held numerous positions in the church and sang in the choir since 1972 at the Wilber United Methodist Church, when he became a member.
Ron loved people and serving the community. He was a member of the Lions, the Sportsman Club, American Legion Post #101, board member and president of the Wilber Cooperative, FSA county committee, the Bohemian cemetery board, and a 75 year member of the Z.C.B.J. He was honored with a Knights of Blanik award in 1999.
Ron had many passions, the greatest of which was his family. Among his passions were raising crops and cattle, playing sax for many bands including Elmer's Combo for income as well as pleasure. He also enjoyed marching and playing in the Wilber Alumni Band. When he wasn't playing in a band, he was dancing. He also loved bowling for 50 plus years at both Crete and Wilber.
Ron is survived by his daughters Crystal (Dennis) Broz of Wilber, Robbin (Colby) Hergott of Bruning, and Ronda (Mike) Homolka of Daykin and special friend Marlene Stehlik of Crete. Grandchildren Bridgett (Isaiah) Wilson of Phoenix, Arizona, Brad (Jill) Broz of Wilber, Jennifer (Tony) Lytle of Wilber, Tiffany Trauernicht of Beatrice and special friend Alex Eckhoff, Alexis Hergott of Bruning, Shelby Homolka and special friend Jesse Kagy, Delaney Homolka of Daykin, and foreign exchange student Stephanie Ramme of Germany. Great grandchildren Mia Wilson, Isaiah Wilson, Harley Broz and special friend Hunter Cerveny, Houston Broz, Owen McCright, Shali McCright, Carter Lytle, Tessa Lytle, Truxton Trauernicht, and Raven Trauernicht. Sister Jeanette (Roger) Maas, brother-in-law Jerry (Sharon) Heckman, sister-in-law Betty Heckman, sister-in-law Janet (Don) Nykodym, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Ellen, in 2003, parents, Mike and Blanche Broz, in-laws, Francis and Millie Bourg, brother-in-law, Jack Heckman.
Memorials entrusted to the family for future designation.
Services will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, 10:30 AM at Kuncl Funeral Home, Wilber, Nebraska. Visitation is on Monday, November 14, 2022, 5 to 8 PM with family receiving friends at the funeral home. Arrangements entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber.
