Ronald William Kobes was born on November 13, 1943, in Beatrice to William and Lillian (Stach) Kobes.  He passed away on December 23, 2023, at his home.  Ron graduated from Wilber High School with the class of 1961.  He married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Ann Richtarik on August 9, 1961, in Tarkio, Missouri.  They were married for 62 years.  Ron enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing and farming, and most importantly his grandchildren and great grandson.  He worked at American Tool (Petersons) and retired from there after 40 years as a supervisor in the plating department.  He was preceded in death by his parents, nephew:  Bradley Frahm, brother-in-law:  Gary Richtarik, and parents in law: Fred and Mildred Richtarik.  Ron is survived by his wife: Shirley, daughter and son in law:  Sheila and Dennis VanLaningham, son and daughter in law:  Bob and Angie Kobes, grandchildren:  Kurtis VanLaningham and special friend Cassie Andelt and her son Wyatt, Derek and Carrie VanLaningham, Saige Kobes, great grandson:  Crew VanLaningham, sister-in-law and spouse:  Selma and Perry Frahm, sister-in-law:  Karen Richtarik, nieces and nephews.  Services are Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber.  Casual dress is requested.  Visitation is Wednesday from 4 - 7 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials have been designated to the DeWitt Fire & Rescue Department.
