Obituary

Rose E. (Havlat) Rezny was born on May 3, 1933 on a farm in Pleasant Dale, NE, to her parents Joseph Havlat and Ludmila (Kvasnicka) Havlat. Rose grew up with four brothers and nine sisters. She attended school until the 8th grade. It was around this time her father also passed away of a heart attack. Shortly after this, she moved to Crete and worked at a Cafe and at the Crete Mills. She also helped her sister and brother-in-law care for their small children. Rose met Robert (Bob) Rezny in 1956 and they married in 1957. After moving to Lincoln, Rose worked at Russell Stover Candies and Weaver's Potato Chip. She then spent several years self-employed cleaning family homes. Rose and Bob had two daughters, Pam and Amy. They were also blessed with three grandchildren, Justin, Brandon, and Anna. Rose and Bob lived in their family home for 50 years before Bob passed away in 2015 from complications of throat cancer. They developed many long lasting friendships with neighbors both older and much younger than them. If Rose wasn't found sitting on her porch visiting with a neighbor or two, she was found on another neighbor's porch visiting with them. Rose enjoyed cooking, baking, and talking on the phone with or spending time with family. Rose experienced many fun memories throughout her life. She was described often by others as "a hoot" (this usually meant she said whatever was on her mind.) Unfortunately, Rose also suffered many years with chronic back pain. She also encountered numerous other medical issues, but she never gave up. In fact, she was so determined in July of 2018 to "be with my family" she began dialysis treatment at age 85. A doctor said, "I don't know physically how she'll hold up, but mentally she'll be fine; she's a feisty one." This was true! When Rose took her last breath, her family of course, was right there with her. She will be missed! We all loved you and will miss you Rose!! Services: 11 a.m., Friday, Kuncl Funeral Home, Crete. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, funeral home. Interment: Wilber Czech Cemetery.  Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete is handling arrangements.
