Obituary

Rosella (Rose) Vlcek, 93 of Wilber, died January 23, 2016 at The Wilber Care Home. She was born February 14, 1922 in Gering, Nebraska.
In 1930 she and her family moved to rural Lexington, Neb, where her family worked in the sugar beet industry. Manual labor was very hard, back breaking work, but all were healthy, with hard working ethics and were able to make a living.
After some time, the family moved back to the Scottsbluff area , but returned to Dawson County in Nebraska. Rose learned of of a job opportunity at Western Electric in Omaha and worked many years there.
She met Alvin at a dance, he was the very man she had waited for! He was handsome,friendly, and a farmer!
They were married and lived on the family farm until recently.Rose and Alvin enjoyed traveling and morning coffee groups in many nearby towns with friends They enjoyed their pets, cats and dogs and also fishing. Rose always had a very well kept vegetable garden and shared the abundance of her harvests.
Rose had four sisters, Molly Kildow,Katie De Fruiter, Dorothy Lobdell, all deceased and Mary Jacobs of Lincoln. She also had three brothers, John Schledewitz, Edward Schledewitz, and Phillip Cler, all deceased. It was a large household, also with seven stepsisters and two step brothers.
Both Rose and Alvin have been loved by many nieces and nephews. Birthday and Holiday gatherings were always looked forward to, Alvins jokes and Rosies sweetness.
Services are Thursday, 10:30 am, Kuncl Funeral Home, Wilber (casual attire requested). Visitation is Wednesday, 6 – 8 pm, funeral home. Interment will be in Wilber Czech Cemetery. Memorials to Wilber Fire & Rescue.
