Sammie William Day passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, June 25 ^th , 2021 at the age of 74.  He was born on February 23, 1947 in Fairbury, NE.  After graduation, Sammie was drafted into the United States Army in 1967 and was stationed in Korea until his honorable discharge in 1969.  When he returned from Korea, Sammie began working at Nestle Purina in Crete, NE, where he retired after 47 years.  While there, Sammie met and married Sharon Safranek on March 25 ^th , 1971.  Sammie is survived by his wife Sharon of Crete, NE, daughter Tracy, of Ashland, daughter Kelly (Randy), of Dorchester, son Cory, of Lincoln, and Son Michael (Jessie) of Clatonia, brother, Paul (Deb) of Pickrell, brother Robert (Cathy) of Plattsmouth, brother-in-law Ron (Diane) of Crete, granddaughter Kyla, grandson Collyn, and many nieces and nephews.  Sammie will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.  He enjoyed spending his time drinking morning coffee with friends, attending his grandchildren's curricular and extracurricular activities, and he continued his life-long passion of trap shooting with his children and grandson.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 10:30 A.M. at Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.  There will be no viewing or visitation.  Family requests casual attire.  Memorials are designated to the family.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.
