Sharon M.
Day
August 5, 1947 – March 19, 2026
Sharon Day was born on August 5, 1947, and passed away at home surrounded by family on March 19, 2026.
She was a lifelong Crete resident. She worked at Formfit and then Nestle Purina for over 40 years before her retirement.
Sharon loved to sew and give away satin binded fleece and flannel blankets. She also enjoyed league bowling, word search puzzles and playing solitaire with "real" cards. The family also enjoyed her baking days; from homemade Runzas, cinnamon rolls, chili cheese dogs, kolaches and cookies; especially her Christmas sugar cookies. Her specially seasoned Chex mix was also a holiday favorite. Nobody ever left the house hungry or empty handed; there were always "to go" packages for everyone.
Sharon married Sammie Day on March 25, 1971. They were blessed with two daughters and two sons. Family vacations were always a must as the kids grew up. It was during a family vacation that Sharon discovered her love for the mountains and Estes Park, Colorado. The family spent many summer vacations there. After retirement, Sharon would often pack a bag and head west because "The mountains were calling her."
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband: Sam in 2021, parents: Hank and Lenore Safranek, brother: Lyle Safranek, sister-in-law: Diane Safranek, and brother-in-law: Robert Day.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Tracy Mullikin of Crete, Kelly (Randy) Brummett of Dorchester, Cory Day of Lincoln, and Michael (Jessie) Day of Clatonia. Grandchildren: Kyla (Kyle) Kilzer of Lincoln, Collyn Brummett of Lincoln. Great granddaughters: Nova and Javelin Kilzer. Brother: Ron Safranek of Crete. Brother and sister-in-law: Paul and Deb Day of Pickrell. Sister-in-law: Kathy Day of Plattsmouth. Nieces and nephews and many wonderful neighbors and dear friends. Special friends: Phil and Dot Rohrbaugh of Aspen Winds in Estes Park, Colorado who gave Sharon her "home away from home."
A big thank you to our Tabitha Hospice team. We are grateful for your care, compassion and support given to our family.
The family is honoring Sharon's wishes of cremation with no services. Memorials may be mailed to her children for future designation or to a charity of your choice in her honor and memory.
Arrangements entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.
