Sharri "The Princess" Laughlin

Sharri Ann Laughlin, was born on October 12, 1977 in Dallas, TX, moved to Lincoln at the age of two years old and became a life long resident. Sharri died on April 22, 2018 surrounded by family and loved ones. Sharri graduated from Lincoln Southeast High School in 1995 and while a single parent raising 5 amazing children was able to fulfill her dream in May 2017 of graduating through Doane University with her Masters Degree as a Mental Health Counselor. While pursuing her Master's degree, Sharri created and helped maintain a program through Southeast Community College in which all three Nebraska campuses will receive free mental health counseling to all students, which in turn provided an internship opportunity for Doane University and University of Nebraska-Lincoln intern students. Sharri completed her internship with Geriatrics and mental health. Sharri is survived by her biological children: Chandler and Justice Blair; including her three other children/nephews: Samuel, Isaiah and Travis Laughlin. Sharri is survived by three siblings: her older sister Charlene Laughlin, and younger sister and brother Jamie Martin and Larry Laughlin. Sharri is survived by 15 nieces and nephews and 4 great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by (unborn son) Foster Taylen Blair, (mother) Linda "Bobbie" Smiley, (father) Joseph T. Turek and nephew J'Deonn. A celebration of her life will be held at New Covenant Church located at 6000 S. 84th on Saturday April 28 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Sharri requests all donations be sent to Kellie Carlin who will be the provider and caretaker of Sharri's children. Kellie can be reached at 402-601-5635.  The interment of Sharri's ashes will be held on Tuesday May 1st at Calvary Cemetery located at 3880 L street, Lincoln at 4:00 p.m.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete, NE.
