Obituary

Teresa A. Javorsky was born to Joseph and Bertha (Burkey) Smejkal on May 23, 1928 at Crete, Nebraska. She passed away on Jan. 31, 2018 at the Crete Area Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, sisters Mary, Margaret, and Betty, and her parents. Teresa's childhood home being only a few blocks from the banks of the Big Blue River, she grew up loving the outdoors. A perfect afternoon was a cane pole fishing trip with Pop or brother Bob. Following the example of her parents, she was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Crete and formed a deep faith in God which sustained her always. Teresa was proud of landing her first job at the Isis Theatre while still in high school. After graduating from Crete High School, she used her math, clerical skills and attention to detail, to work at a variety of local businesses including Wielage Farm Equipment, Quality Cleaners, Fairmont Creamery, and later the Villa Madrid Motel and American Greetings. She took correspondence classes in art and created skilled portraits of the movie stars of her youth, and faces with beautifully drawn eyes. On August 20, 1951, she married Lloyd D. Javorsky at Sacred Heart Church in Crete. Their union was blessed with six children, Patricia, James, Larry, Alan, Sharon and Douglas. She and husband Lloyd purchased a local drive-in, The Daisy Queen, and with help from their children and other employees, ran the business for 13 years. She enjoyed gardening and feeding the birds and squirrels, and was a talented seamstress, cook, and baker of kolaches and unique decorated birthday cakes. No one ever went home hungry from one of her holiday meals. Teresa always kept her youthful curiosity and fun loving nature. She delighted in getting hugs from family and friends. Left to cherish her memory are daughter Pat (Rod) Hier of Crete, son James (Joline) Javorsky of Creighton, son Larry (Rebecca) Javorsky of Corvallis, OR, son Alan Javorsky and special friend Paula Lopes of Holly Hill, FL, daughter Sharon (Don) Rice of Crete, son Doug (Kristin) Javorsky of Lincoln, and grandchildren Michael (Wade) Javorsky of Indianapolis, IN, Rachel (Brian) Keszler of West Bloomfield, MI, Joshua Javorsky of Omaha, Tal (Sarah) Javorsky of Bozeman, MT, Brennen (Adele) Javorsky of Boise, ID, Seth Javorsky of Corvallis, OR, Zach Javorsky of Holly Hill, FL, Brandon Rice of Lincoln, NE and Jennifer Ashton, Cassie, Morgan, and Ruben Javorsky all of Starksville, MS, and 2 great-grandchildren, Eleanor Keszler and Leeland Javorsky. Also surviving are brother Bob (Barbara) Smejkal of Omaha, sister Catherine Shafer of Seward, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete on Friday, February 16, 5-8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 on Saturday, February 17th at Sacred Heart Church, with burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Crete, NE. Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete is handling arrangements.
