Terry Lee
Hynek
October 22, 1962 – April 15, 2026
Sokol Hall - Wilber
Starts at 2:00 pm (Central time)
Terry Lee Hynek was born on October 22, 1962, in Crete, Nebraska to George and Doris (Jelinek) Hynek. He passed away unexpectedly at his home in Wilber, on April 15, 2026.
Terry attended Wilber Clatonia Schools and graduated in May of 1981. He later attended Southeast Community College in Beatrice, Nebraska, where he earned an Associate's Degree in Agribusiness.
Throughout his life, Terry wore many hats. He worked on the farm with his dad, made and sold various meats at Karpisek’s & Wilber Meat Market. He spent time at Wilber Clatonia Schools and drove students to and from school and sporting events on the bus, and later came back to work within the school, where he was known for greeting every student and teacher with a smile.
In 2005, Terry took on one of his most treasured roles-becoming a husband and father. On May 28, 2005, he married Carmen and lovingly welcomed her two children, Amanda and Michael, into his life. Family meant everything to Terry, and he was overjoyed to later become a grandfather, affectionately known as “Papa” or “Papa Ter Bear.”
To know Terry was to love him. He will be remembered for his contagious smile, and his willingness to help anyone at any time. He enjoyed fishing, shooting hoops with Michael, working on the farm, playing drums in the Wilber-Clatonia Alumni Band, relaxing by the wood-burning stove or on the back porch, and most of all, spending time with his family. We can all agree the world needs more people like Terry.
Terry is survived by his wife Carmen, his children Amanda (James) Doiel, Michael (Wendi) Gushard. Grandchildren, Brock, Chloe, Brooklyn, and Tucker. His sister Karen Johnson and niece Dana (Tom) Hughes and their children Brody, Graham, and Olivia.
He is preceded in death by his parents George & Doris Hynek, Grandparents Ed & Albina Jelinek, George & Lydia Hynek, and his Brother-in-Law Scott Johnson
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 24,2026, at 2:00 PM at Sokol Hall in Wilber. In lieu of flowers, memorials in care of the family for future designation.
Arrangements entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber.
