Messman
April 30, 1944 – December 14, 2024
Tommy R Messman was born in Lincoln Nebraska on April 30th 1944 to parents August and Ella (Osterthun) Messman. Tommy went home to be with the Lord December 14th 2024. Tom attended Wilber-Clatonia schools and grew up in the Hallam Nebraska community. He married Dorothy Patton in Hallam at the UCC church on November 29th 1963. Tom and Dorothy then welcomed two sons .
He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers since 1966, where he spent a lot of working hours in the Omaha area, he retired in 2005. After the Hallam tornado in 2004 Tom and Dorothy moved to Crete Ne.
Tom enjoyed his time hunting and fishing with his sons and grandson. In the past few years you could have found him out fishing with his brother Dick and great grandsons. If he wasn't fishing he was working in the yard. When the season got colder he discovered a passion with wood work. Tom was always carving something.
Tom had three granddaughters and they all came with very different personalities, he somehow adjusted to them all. He supported everything the girls did and made sure to give them a hard time if an opportunity was available.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Messman, Brother Dick Messman, Sons Tim and wife Lisa Messman, Todd and wife Heather Messman, Grandchildren Jarrod Messman, Britney and husband Michael Reffett, Tess and husband Shane Bloom, Jena and husband Dylan Jarvis. Great grandchildren Bracehn Messman, Taevon Reffett and Step great grandchildren Chloe and Caden Jarvis. Tom is survived by many Nieces and Nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents August and Ella (Osterthun) Messman, Brothers Harold and Dale Messman, and sisters Wilma Kahle, Lois Grantski, and Loma June Dewey.
A gathering for family and friends will take place on Monday, December 30, 2024, from 1 - 3 PM at Veterans & Friends in Crete. Memorials to Crete Fire and rescue, and Hallam UCC Church. Arrangements entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.
