Loving Mother and Grandmother Veronica Schnell passed away peacefully at home on July 5th 2019. She was born Veronica Balas in Mahanoy City Pennsylvania on June 14th 1927 and grew up in Brooklyn New York and graduated High School there. Married Reinhold W. Schnell on April 10th 1945 and moved to Crete Nebraska. She is survived by 9 children Mary Tripp and husband John of Herkimer NY, Kathy Wigington and husband Tom of Nebraska City NE, Judith Haas of Vilisca IA, Douglas Schnell and wife Karen of Fayetteville AR, Alan Schnell of Lincoln NE, Carolyn Holmes of Crete NE, Reinhold Schnell and wife Cheryl of Colorado Springs CO, John Schnell and wife Roxanne of Mead Ne and Stephan Schnell and wife Margaret of Bowie Texas; sisters Mary Senzino of Staten Island NY and Helen Hier of Crete NE. She has 40 grandchildren, 71 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Veronica was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Crete. She was preceded in death by her Husband Reinhold, her parents Veronica and Stefan Balas, bother Stephen Balas, Brother-in-law Robert Hier, sister-in-law Sarah Balas, daughter-in-law Mary Schnell (Dunekacke) and grandson Zechary Alden Schnell. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church building fund in Crete, Nebraska. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 2 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Crete. Visitation is Wednesday, 5 – 8 PM with Rosary at 7 PM at Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete. Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete is handling arrangements.
