Vivian Jean Zajicek was born April 23rd, 1921 in Wilber, NE to Joseph J. Janda and Otilie (Znamenacek) Janda. She passed away on September 4th, 2016 at the age of 95 years, 4 months and 12 days.
Vivian graduated from Wilber High School in 1939 and then attended Lincoln School of Commerce. Following graduation she worked for the Civil Service in Washington D.C., Cincinnati, Ohio and Salina, Kansas. Vivian also worked as the Selective Service Executive Secretary in Saline County, Bank of Wilber and Served as Wilber High School Board Secretary.
Vivian married her high school sweetheart, Eugene C. Zajicek, on March 21st, 1943 in Lincoln, NE. Vivian was a member of United Lutheran Church in Lincoln, NE and past member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wilber. She was a member of Welca, P.E.O., American Legion Auxiliary, Lutheran Church Bible Study Group, and Wilber Czechs. She was past president of P.E.O Sisterhood, Chapter BF, American Legion Auxiliary Unit, Wilber and past Worthy Matron, O.E.S.
Vivian is survived by her 3 children Jon (Lynn) Zajicek, of Hot Springs, AR, Jeffrey (Teresa) Zajicek of Beatrice, NE, Susan (Dave) Larsen of Lincoln, NE. Grandchildren, Carlye (Johnnie) Travis, Kate (Rob) Duncan, Matt (Alicia) Zajicek, Ben (Anna) Zajicek, Allison (Peter) Burger, Adam (Rachell) Janecek and Rachel (Jeffrey) Rathman. Great-Grandchildren, Payton and Chloe Travis, Ian Duncan, Aiden, Brynn, Madison and Broc Zajicek, and Anakin Janecek. Nieces, nephews, many friends, and her special feline companion, "Mike".
Services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wilber. Interment to follow at Wilber Czech Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 - 8 p.m. at Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber. Memorials may be given to First Evangelical Lutheran Church Foundation Perpetual Fund or in care of the family.
